Bitter guard kichedi is a traditional dish in Kerala. It is a side dish for sadya. Normally people don’t like to prepare because of bitterness. But I am guaranteed that there is no bitter taste like other recipes of bitter guard. Easy to make and healthy dish. Bitter guard kichedi is made of coconut and yoghurt(curd).
Bitter guard medium size-1
Grated coconut-1/2 cup
coconut oil-for deep fry
mustard seeds-1 tsp
salt to taste
How to Make Pasavakka kitchedi
Cut the bitter guard as thin round shape.
Deep fry in a pan till goden brown. Crush the fried bitter guard.
Grind the coconut with yoghurt. Then with mustard seeds.
Add the coconut paste into the crushed paavakka. Add salt and mix. Do not cook then.
splutter mustard seeds in another pan, add red chilly and curry leaves. Mix with kichedi.
