Parippu / Tur daal Curry
Tur Dal is commonly known as the toor dal, tur dal. It provides many of the nutrients your body needs, like fat, fiber and carbohydrates. This is one the most favorite dal curry for rice. For this curry am also using onion and tomato. In Kerala sadhya incomplete without parippu curry.
The very simple and easy method of preparation is bellow with detailed images. I hope all are enjoy this recipe.
- Tur dal ¾ cup
- Tomato 1
- Onion ½ piece
- Water 1 cup
- Turmeric powder ½ table spoon
- Red chili powder ¼ table spoon
- Grated coconut ½ cup
- Cumin powder ¼ table spoon
- Onion 2 table spoon finely chopped
- Salt to taste
Method of making parippu curry
In a pressure cooker add tur dal, sliced tomato and sliced onion. Pour water, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt. Close the lid and cook for 3 whistles in high flame.
In a blender add grated coconut and very little water, just crush it. Keep it aside.
The pressure settles, open the lid and pour the crushed coconut in to this. Mix all is well.
Check the salt; add curry leaves and cumin powder in it. Cook for 2 minute in medium flame and switch of the flame.
Heat oil in a small frying pan add chopped onion fry till its golden brown in color, pure in to the curry.
Simple and tasty tur dal curry is ready to serve with rice. Enjoy cooking.
