Chess Board Cake/Checker Board Cake – Eggless

Chess Board Cake/Checker Board Cake – Eggless

Chessboard cake is a combination of white vanilla cake and dark chocolate cake. Both the coloured cakes we cut and stack in a different manner to get a chessboard pattern. While stacking the cake, we may not be able to see the pattern. But you can astonish your guests by cutting a piece of this cake in front of them..  Here are the ingredients for both the cakes..

White Vanilla Cake: Eggless

Condensed milk – 100 grams

Sugar – 100 grams, powdered

Set curd – ¼ cup

Vanilla – ½ teaspoon

Butter – 85 grams, melted

Fresh Cream – ¼ cup

Maida – ¾ cup

Cornflour – 1 teaspoon

Salt – ¼ teaspoon

Baking powder – ¾ teaspoon

In a large bowl, beat condensed milk and powdered sugar.

Add curd and vanilla, then beat.

Then pour fresh cream and melted butter.  Beat and Set aside.

In a bowl, mix maida, baking powder, cornflour and salt.

Then mix the dry ingredient with the wet ingredients and then pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake in a preheated Oven of 180 degree for 20-25 minutes or until a cocktail stick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let the cake cool down.

Now, lets prepare the chocolate cake.

Dark Chocolate cake – Eggless

Condensed milk – 100 grams

Sugar – 100 gram, powdered

Set curd – ¼ cup

Vanilla – ½ teaspoon

Strong coffee – ¼ cup

Oil/Vanaspathi – 85 grams

Maida – ¾ cup

Cocoa powder – 2 table spoons

Salt – ¼ teaspoon

Baking soda – ¼ teaspoon

Baking powder – ½ teaspoon

Sieve maida, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

In a large bowl, beat condensed milk with powdered sugar.

Add set curd, coffee, vanilla and oil and beat.

To this batter, add dry ingredients.

Pour in to the prepared tin and bake for 20-25 minutes in a preheated Oven of 180 degree.

Let the cake cool down.

Now, lets prepare chocolate ganache to assemble the cake.

White chocolate – 400 grams

Fresh cream – 100 ml

Heat the fresh cream in a large bowl.  Add grated chocolate to it and stir until fully melted.

Now lets assemble the cake.

Slice both the cake in horizontal.

Then using different sized round cake cutters, cut circles out of the cake and keep aside.

then cut chocolate cake too. Now, lets arrange the checker board cake.

Arrange a cake board. Then keep the outer circle of vanilla cake on the board and then put the middle circle of the chocolate cake inside vanilla circle and then again stuff the middle circle with vanilla cake.  The next layer should be, chocolate layer on the outer side, then vanilla and again chocolate.  Repeat the process until all the slices are neatly arranged.  Dont forget to apply a dollop of ganache in between layers, which helps the cake layers to stick together firmly.

Now, apply a thin coat of white chocolate ganache all over the cake and scrape the sides to get a smooth finish. Now keep in fridge for 30 minutes to get the ganache set.

Now, lets apply another coat of ganache to give a more smooth finish to the cake (I have omitted the second coat of ganache) and decorate it with some dark chocolate ganache and a few biscuits. Decorative parts are purely our own choice. Whoever has a very good imagination, can decorate their cakes more beautifully,

Now, its the time to cut our cake in front of others… You can surely hear a Wowww! voice from them!!
