This is the traditional Goan version of masala chicken fry. Chicken Cafreal is originally from Africa, it’s introduced to Goa by the Portuguese. This makes as a side dish or as starter. Cafreal is usually made with chicken leg pieces. Here I am using the normal pieces. This is very tasty and it gives an aromatic spices.

Ingredients
- Chicken 250 gm
- Cinnamon 1 piece
- Cumin seeds ½ table spoon
- Poppy seeds 1 ½ table spoon
- Pepper seeds 6 no.s
- Cloves 4 no.s
- Green chili 3
- Garlic 5 cloves
- Ginger 1 piece
- Coriander leaves 1 hand full
- Lemon juice 1 table spoon
- Water 1 table spoon
- Turmeric powder ½ table spoon
- Salt to taste
- Oil 3 table spoon
- Butter ½ table spoon
Method
In a pan dry roast 2 to 5 ingredients and put in to a blender.
Add 6 to 12 ingredients in the same blender.Grind it and make a smooth paste.
Then add salt as per your taste and turmeric powder. Again blend it.
Then remove in to a plate, marinate chicken with the green malala paste. Put in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
After 2 hours heat oil in a non stick pan and fry the marinated chicken on both sides in low flame.
Add butter in it, and then switch off the flame.
