Rava upma / South Indian Breakfast Recipe
Rava upma is one of the most healthy breakfast recipe options. This Is a traditional breakfast dish in south India. There are several types of upma recipes like, bread, oats and idli. But this is my favorite breakfast and I would like to use rava upma in dinner. You can add more vegetables, tomatoes and grated coconut. If u adds some turmeric powder the upma have a nice yellow color.

- Rava 1 cup
- Water 1 ¾ cup
- Urad daal 1 table spoon
- Curry leaves 2 springs
- Green chili 1
- Onion 1 small size chopped
- Carrot finely chopped 3 table spoon
- Salt to taste
Heat a pan and dry roast one cup semolina for 2 minutes; switch off the flame and remove it in to a bowl.
Heat oil in the same pan; add urad daal, green chilli, finely chopped ginger and curry leaves sauté for few minutes till the urad daal turn golden brown in color.
Add chopped onions, carrot and salt. Fry it for 2 minutes in medium flame.
Pour water in it, close the lid and allow it to boil.
Once it starts boiling add dry roasted semolina little by little, mix continuously. Add the rava in one hand and mix well with using the other hand. This is the important step to avoid lumps.
Rava will be cooked switch off the flame, serve hot immediately.
