Spaghetti and Meat Sauce – If it is your first time to cook something or you are not particularly fond of cooking, it is always a good idea to start with simple and easy to cook meals. Not everyone would enjoy spending countless hours cooking up some great recipe or experimenting on some exotic dish. There are many people who would actually prefer to do away with the whole cooking process. However, it is often necessary to learn how to cook.

Pasta is one of the best easy dishes to prepare for several reasons. For one, it already serves as a complete meal and you wouldn’t have to prepare anything else if you decide to serve pasta. Another great thing about pasta is that there are so many varieties and recipes that you can choose from. There are more complicated pastas to cook that would extend for several hours and there are some that would only take a few minutes to prepare with minimal effort.

For beginners, we have chosen a classic recipe of spaghetti and meat sauce – made easy of course. While the recipe may be easy enough to prepare by someone who has never tried cooking before, it doesn’t compromise the taste. In fact, it offers a very rich taste as the recipe has been revised to make it taste even better yet prepared in the least amount of time. Spaghetti and Meat Sauce !

Spaghetti and Meat Sauce

Ingredients

  • 255g spaghetti
  • 100g bacon
  • 255g ground beef
  • 1 finely diced onion
  • 2 finely minced garlic cloves
  • 1 small carrot, finely chopped
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 400g canned tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1/4tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano

Cooking Instructions

  1. Fill a large saucepan with water and add a pinch of salt. Bring to boil over high heat. Once it is boiling, add the spaghetti and cook for 10 minutes or al dente.
  2. In a separate pan, cook bacon over medium heat. One it is golden brown, add the ground beef and wait for it to turn brown while stirring from time to time. One this is done, transfer the meat to a bowl.
  3. In the pan used to cook the meat, add the onions, carrot and garlic. Sauté until it is well cooked. Once done, turn the heat up high and return the meat. Add the white wine and bring to boil until no liquid is left while constantly stirring.
  4. Again, turn down the heat to medium or low and add the canned tomatoes and ketchup. Do not forget to include the salt and black pepper to taste. Also add the oregano. Be sure to crush the oregano properly before mixing it in. Stir until mixed well.

Two Methods of Serving:

  • Mixed together. Add the pasta on the sauce mix. Stir well. Serve in a serving dish.
  • Served Separately. Place the pasta on separate dishes depending on the number of people eating. Add the sauce on top of the pasta.

While the name of the dish may sound like something that should be done by more skilled cooks, the whole process is actually very simple and can be done in 30 minutes tops. So if you want to impress someone with your cooking ability, try something that is seemingly difficult to prepare but in reality is actually one of the easiest dishes to cook.
