How To Make Egg Sandwich

how to make egg sandwich

Sandwiches are a quick fix to my midnight hunger-pangs. They are so versatile. You can make sandwich recipes out of almost anything. You just need the basics such as bread and butter and you are good to go with your imagination!

Eggs in sandwich weren’t my thing until a few months back when McDonald’s launched its new burger McEgg in India. It is just a steamed egg, drizzled with ungenerous amount of plain mayonnaise packed between the usual McDonald’s buns. I liked the idea of egg in the sandwich but I didn’t really like the way they made the McEgg. It lacked the love!

So I created a really filling and yummy version of the McEgg at home. It was ready in just 5 minutes! Just look at it! Doesn’t it look inviting? As I was clicking pictures of this handsome hunk of a sandwich, I could hear it say “EAT ME NOW!!!” I know I am being funny. That is what good food does to you!

So I just took a couple of pictures and raided the sandwich the very next moment. Now as I write this post, the sandwich is already resting in my tummy and my hands smell buttery and cheesy! 😀

Since I am trying to watch my weight, I made only one of these. So this recipe is for one sandwich. If you want to make more sandwiches, just multiply the amount of ingredients with the number of sandwiches. So, let us see how to make this easy, delicious and of course good-looking sandwich.

How to Make this Ooey-Gooey Egg Sandwich

  • Cut the crust off the bread slices, if you like.
  • Heat a tawa / pan / griddle. Toss in a small piece of butter and toast one side of both the bread slices. Make sure the tawa is just warm and not very hot otherwise it will burn the butter. Slide the bread slices around on the tawa so that the side being toasted absorbs the melted butter.
  • Lightly toast the bread slices till they acquire a golden color. Remove the bread slices onto a plate. Now the side that you have toasted will be the inner side of the sandwich.
  • Add more butter to the same tawa. Break an egg onto the tawa. Scramble it with a spoon. Season it with salt and pepper. Allow it to cook for a few more seconds. We want the egg to be just cooked, flavorful and moist. It should not smell raw either. We don’t want to overcook the egg, else it will become dry.
  • Spoon the scrambled egg onto the slice of bread. Remember, toasted side in! Place a slice of cheese. Close the sandwich with another bread slice, toasted side in again.
  • Toss the remaining butter onto the tawa and toast the sandwich till the outer side of the bread gets a nice golden crust. The cheese will melt soon from the heat of the scrambled eggs.
  • Remove the sandwich onto the plate and serve hot! Serving the sandwich immediately is a good idea, because it will become soggy soon. Enjoy the quick fix sandwich in no time!

Note – You can make this sandwich with half-fried egg, i.e., without scrambling the egg. It will increase the ooey-gooey quotient!

I will be raiding this place with more sandwich recipes soon! I am hoping to make my favorite egg salad sandwich and of course I will share the recipe here. Stay tuned!
